March 2012 at Musical Cyberspace is all about songs with people’s names in the title.

“Freddy My Love” was one of the songs from Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey’s Grease that didn’t rocket to the top of the charts along with “Summer Nights” and “Greased Light’nin'”when the film became the global phenomenon that it is. Why? Because it was cut – kind of. The song still appears on the soundtrack and it features as diegetic background music, but it is no longer that character piece that it is for Marty in the stage show. All the more fun, then, to return to the stage show and listen to this sweet and witty little torch song.
